You have probably heard some hype in the gym lately about cycle! Exercising to great music, with motivational trainers in a fun environment…. it sounds pretty good, right?!
There are many benefits to an indoor cycle class, here are some of our favourites:
1. It’s a community
One of the best things about group fitness is that you are not alone in the experience. Your instructor is riding with you, and you’re surrounded by a room full of like-minded people who encourage one another to do their best. It’s a very motivating environment! There is a real sense of community in our cycle classes with many great friendships formed over the years.
2. It’s low impact.
Cycling is a low-impact exercise which means it has less stress on your joints. It can be a great way for people with joint or mobility issues to continue to stay healthy safely. If you are returning from an injury, or have joint or mobility issues etc., please ensure you chat to your doctor about what is best for your individual circumstances first.
3. It improves your cardiovascular health.
Cycle classes can help enhance your cardiovascular stamina and fitness. It stimulates and improves your heart, lungs and circulation, reducing your risk of cardiovascular diseases such as heart attack or high blood pressure. 4. It improves your mental health.
We know that physical exercise does wonders for your mental health, but did you know cycling is among the most beneficial exercises when it comes to improving your emotional wellness? A study of over a million people found that individuals who exercised had fewer days of poor mental health than individuals who did not. The top three exercises that helped with this were team sports, cycling, and aerobic and gym activities respectively.
5. It strengthens your core and legs
Attending regular cycling classes can enhance muscle definition in your legs and strengthen your core. Your core is engaged during the ride for stabilisation of the bike, even though you are stationary. If you are cycling regularly, it’s a great idea to add some off-bike core strength exercises to your weekly routine, as it will help you cycle for longer with less fatigue.
Keen to try a cycle class?
If it is your first time to a cycle class, arrive a few minutes early and ask your instructor to help you set up your bike. Setting up your bike correctly is essential to maximise the benefits of your workout and help to prevent injury. In most cases, your seat should be at the same height as your hips and your handlebars should be at the same height as your seat, or a little taller. Don’t forget your water bottle, and gym towel!

One Cycle Warrior | 75-minutes worth of cycling fun. If your legs only want to spin for so long, you can opt out after 30 or 45 minutes or you can stay for the full 75 minutes – the choice is yours. Freestyle cycle with optional hand weights track included.
One Cycle | Our signature full body workout cycle class, complete with rock star music. We’ve added hand weights to this 45-minute ride, which will help you burn kilojoules, improve your cardiovascular health, tone your legs, and give your abdomen a great workout, without high impact.
HydroRider | We’ve dropped your exercise bike in the pool for this one! Mix it up in this combined Aqua and Aqua Cycle class. There’s great muscle and joint support in the pool for a high fat burning, lean muscle building class. One to add to your workout mix to keep your body guessing.
